With more than 2400 exhibitors, 1.3 million square feet of exhibit space and over 100,000 visitors, the prospect of attending IMTS 2018 can be overwhelming. Of course, the advantages far outweigh any concerns. IMTS is the one place to see all of the latest manufacturing technology, meet with industry experts and attend seminars on the hottest topics.
Interconnectivity and data sharing, more user-friendly control interfaces, robots as co-workers and additive manufacturing were all well represented at IMTS this year. While it’s expected that the newest technologies will be on display at the every-other-year extravaganza, the significance of these and other recent advancements is that they represent a paradigm shift in the way both manufacturers and suppliers view the industry.
New technology abounds at IMTS 2016 and Gosiger will be there along with the CNC machine brands we offer.
IMTS 2016 will be filled with the latest advances in manufacturing technology. A particularly interesting example is an automated cell on display in the Okuma booth (S8500). The cell is a joint effort by Partners in THINC members Okuma, Gosiger Automation, Kitagawa, Fanuc and Schunk.

The 2012 edition of the International Machine Tool Show (IMTS) was an unmitigated success with over 100,000 manufacturing professionals in attendance. Thanks to all who kept us busy in the Gosiger and Okuma booths. Clearly, manufacturers came looking for more and better ways to increase productivity and profitability – and found what they were looking for.
Enabling manufacturers to position and machine up to 4 parts at a time, Hardinge 5C multi-spindle rotary indexers improve small part productivity. These single and dual axis indexers machine each part with the same tool before moving on to the next process, thus producing more parts per hour and reducing cost per part.
Gosiger, Inc. productivity experts will be on hand in IMTS Booth # S-9266 to help manufacturers find the best solutions for their unique applications. There will also be Gosiger staff in Okuma Booth #S-8500 to help introduce eight new machines including the MU-10000H, the largest Okuma 5-axis, horizontal, high-speed machining center. This new 5-axis CNC machine has a maximum work piece weight capacity of 5,500 pounds and can accommodate a work piece up to 59.05” in diameter by 44.29” high.
Although the United States is second only to Japan in industrial robot usage, American manufacturers use robots in only 10% of possible applications. One reason is that many manufacturers aren’t aware of the many ways robots can improve productivity by reducing manual labor within the manufacturing process. In the Gosiger IMTS 2012 booth (S-9266), visitors will see live demonstrations of robots performing such tasks as loading and unloading parts, distinguishing good parts from bad, force sensing (plug & spine) and quick change End of Arm Tooling (EOAT). Additionally, Gosiger Automation will present videos of recent customer installations so visitors may view real-world applications of these automation principles.
