DRMA Annual Golf Outing

Manufacturing Golf OutingThe 2012 Dayton Regional Manufacturing Association (DRMA) Annual Golf Outing took place Monday, July 16, at the Walnut Grove Country Club. Proceeds from the outing benefit the DRMA Foundation which supports workforce development initiatives for the manufacturing industry. All outing participants were employees of a DRMA member company.

Gosiger Staff Supports Okuma New Product Introductions At IMTS 2012

IMTS 2012DAYTON OH – Experienced technical and applications staff from CNC machine dealer and factory automation integrator, Gosiger, Inc. will be present in Okuma booth S-8500 in which the CNC machine company will introduce eight new machines including the MU-10000H, the largest Okuma 5-axis, horizontal, high-speed machining center. This new 5-axis CNC machine has a maximum work piece weight capacity of 5,500 pounds and can accommodate a work piece up to 59.05” in diameter by 44.29” high.

Also referred to as universal machining, 5-axis machining offers significant ways to increase productivity even if you don’t perform 5-axis simultaneous machining. The fact is that 60% of parts are only machined on 5 sides, so by using a 5-axis machining center you can completely machine a part in one cycle, often without any special fixtures, and with no costly operator intervention. On the other hand, a CNC machine tool without 5-axis capability typically requires multiple special fixtures and considerable operator time to move the part from one machine to another and set up the parts in between machining cycles.
