In many cases your customers require the parts you ship to be free of chips, metal dust, dirt and machine oils. This is especially important when the parts are heading for plating or coating operations. For some companies, this process can become a time-wasting bottleneck. Manual cleaning incurs labor costs, time away from machine operation, the cost of the chemicals used and the time and money required to properly dispose of the cleaning solutions. Even aqueous-based cleaners must be disposed of in keeping with state, local and federal regulations to protect the environment.
By definition hard turning is performed on steel with hardness values of 45 Rc or above, and typically in the 60 – 68 Rc range. This method has a number of advantages for manufacturers including the elimination of specialized grinding equipment and the ability to perform multiple CNC machining operations with one setup. As a result, you reduce your machine tool investment and labor costs-per-part while improving throughput. All of which means greater productivity and profitability.
Buying a new or replacement CNC machine is a major investment for many companies. The payback, of course, can be increased throughput, reduced cost of operation, improved customer deliveries, and the ability to compete for jobs you might otherwise miss out on.
Gosiger customers who choose Okuma CNC machine tools benefit from a great many proprietary functions that are built into many Okuma lathes, turning centers, multitasking machines, and machining centers. These functions are part of the company’s Intelligent Technology initiative to make machining faster, easier and more profitable. One of these is the Machining Navi system that reduces the affects of chatter by optimizing spindle speed for milling and machining, and by expanding the chatter-free zone in lathes.
The idea of “lights out” or unattended manufacturing is quite intriguing. The image of a factory turning out parts overnight with no human intervention seems like a perfect way to cut costs and boost productivity. And for those who do it successfully it does, indeed, fulfill that expectation. However the road to unattended manufacturing can be a bumpy one. That’s why manufacturers need a partner, like Gosiger, with the experience to help smooth the way.
We hope you will join us for the final seminar of our three-part Lights Out Manufacturing series. Learn about today’s most up to date technology available to help you maintain an unattended setting without worry.
Like any other major purchase, most of us tend to focus on the initial pricetag of manufacturing equipment, and it’s sometimes difficult to rationalize the cost difference between two similar machines. In the case of CNC machine tools, Machining Center “A” may not look much different from Machine Center “B,” and the specs may even be quite close. So, when machine “B” has a pricetag that’s one-third less than “A,” it’s tempting to choose the less expensive machine.
Employee performance reviews can be valuable tools to help your manufacturing operation be more successful. However they must be done regularly and with adequate forethought or they can do more harm than good. Here are a few tips that can make the review process more beneficial for both you and your employees.
Even the most reliable CNC machine tools need servicing from time to time. The problem is, breakdowns always seem to happen at the worst possible moment. That’s why Gosiger offers preventative maintenance plans that help maximize CNC machine uptime and productivity, reduce overall maintenance costs, ensure reliable machine performance and even optimize machine life and resale value. Each annual preventative maintenance service includes:
